This financial year, the company has donated 650,000 gloves – a significant increase on the 300,000 gloves supplied the previous year, reflecting MUN’s growing commitment to improving maternal and newborn health outcomes globally.
Each year, MUN Australia staff also roll up their sleeves and take part in BKFA Assembly Days, volunteering their time to help pack the kits that are ultimately sent to communities across Africa, Asia and the Pacific.
That hands-on involvement will continue this May as part of Mother’s May, BKFA’s national appeal to pack 20,000 kits in one month. The campaign marks BKFA’s 20th anniversary – and celebrates our three millionth kit milestone.
On 27 May, MUN Australia employees will come together in Sydney to assemble 500 birthing kits. The volunteer day will bring together staff from across the organisation, including members of the senior management team, finance, marketing, operations and sales, demonstrating how a shared purpose can unite teams beyond their day-to-day roles.
Each Clean Birth Kit contains items including gloves, soap, cord ties, plastic sheeting and a blade. Low-cost and easy to assemble, the kits can help reduce infection risk and make birth safer for both mother and baby in communities where basic hygiene supplies aren’t guaranteed.
For MUN Australia, the partnership aligns closely with the organisation’s focus on improving health outcomes and supporting communities in need.
For BKFA, partnerships like MUN Australia’s are vital.
Every kit assembled in Australia has the potential to support a safer birth somewhere in the world – and every pair of gloves placed inside one is another step towards protecting mothers and babies during one of life’s most beautiful, and most fragile, moments.
