Through evidence-based education and practical skills, the program gives women and their partners greater confidence, knowledge and understanding as they prepare for labour, birth and recovery.
But Born Ready’s commitment to maternal health extends beyond Australia.
For the past eight years, the business has supported Birthing Kit Foundation Australia (BKFA) through both donations and birthing kit Assembly Days, helping women in vulnerable communities around the world access the basic supplies needed for a safer birth.
While many Australian women give birth with the support of hospitals, trained health professionals and antenatal education, millions of women elsewhere still face labour without access to the most basic items needed to help prevent infection and reduce the risk of death. It’s a reality Born Ready is helping to change.
“We know that in some parts of the world, even access to a hospital during childbirth is a great privilege – let alone the option of education or choice,” Born Ready Business Manager and Director Amanda Williams says.
“We wanted to help these mothers have a safe birth, at the very least.”
Since 2018, Born Ready has donated more than $5,000 to BKFA, with a portion of course fees directed to the Foundation each month to help fund safer births overseas. Last year, 285 women completed the course through 40 pelvic health physiotherapy clinics across Australia.
The Born Ready team has also taken part in birthing kit Assembly Days, including at a staff retreat and annual conference. With last year’s Better Births theme, BKFA was a natural fit for a lunch-break packing event.
For BKFA, corporate support can take many forms. Some organisations bring teams together through hands-on Assembly Days. Others give through direct donations, workplace giving or regular monthly contributions. This flexibility allows businesses to support BKFA’s mission in a way that suits their team, values and social impact goals, while making a meaningful difference to maternal and newborn health.
Born Ready is a powerful example of how corporate support can work in practice – turning education, generosity and local action into global impact.
