Supporting safer births with Zonta
For more than 20 years, Zonta clubs have been at the heart of the Birthing Kit Foundation Australia.
Founded by members of the Zonta Club of Adelaide Hills, BKFA was born from a powerful belief – that no woman should risk her life simply because she lacks access to clean birth supplies.
Today, Zonta clubs across Australia and around the world continue that commitment by hosting Assembly Days, raising funds and assembling Clean Birth Kits for women living in communities where maternal and newborn deaths remain unacceptably high.
More than half of the Clean Birth Kits distributed by BKFA each year are packed by Zonta clubs and their volunteers, making Zontonians one of the driving forces behind our work.

Host an Assembly Day
Assembly Days are a practical, rewarding way to bring your club and community together while making a tangible difference.
Members, families and friends work side-by-side to assemble Clean Birth Kits that are distributed through our trusted field partners to hospitals, health centres, trained birth attendants and expectant mothers living in low-resource and humanitarian settings.
Whether your club is in Australia or overseas, we’ll provide everything you need to host a successful Assembly Day, including planning resources, kit components and ongoing support from our team.

Supporting BKFA
BKFA is proud of its longstanding partnership with Zonta, and we recognise the vital importance of Zonta International’s global service projects.
We encourage clubs to continue prioritising support for Zonta International. Under Zonta’s funding guidelines, one-third of club fundraising supports Zonta International service projects. We ask that any support provided to BKFA comes from the remaining two-thirds of club fundraising and not from funds ordinarily allocated to Zonta International.
Together, we can continue empowering women, supporting safer births and creating lasting change for women and girls around the world.
