Expectant mothers receive kits

BKFA partner AISF Burundi (Association Infirmier Sans Frontiere) reports back on how Birthing Kits are integrated into their community. 700 kits have recently been distributed to the areas of Gatumba Villa, rural Bujumbura, Buterere village, Mutakura, and the Community health centre of Kinama to traditional midwives, AISF community workers and pregnant women.

Kits are distributed personally to pregnant women with these women shown how to use them. AISF Community health

workers and traditional midwifes work hard to educate expectant mothers to take the kits to hospital where possible and additionally, they advise on correct use of the kits. Follow up meetings and survey are also in place to find out if the kits were used, and how successful they were.

It is wonderful to hear of this community integration and of the hard work in ensuring that Birthing Kits are both distributed and used correctly.
