We hear from Assembly Day Coordinator extraordinaire, Hilary Caruthers
I’ve been with BKFA since 2012 and I am the Assembly Day Coordinator. This involves coordinating the groups such as schools, university students, Zonta Clubs, private baby showers, Rotary clubs and Girl guides in holding an Assembly Day from start to finish. I ensure the supplies are sent out in time and returned as completed kits after their Assembly Day. I liaise with the organisers and answer their queries and concerns around running an assembly day. We have more than doubled the number of Assembly Days held each year, since I started and we now produce just over 200,000 kits a year!
The best thing about working for BKFA for me is hearing from Assembly Day coordinators how much community spirit and camaraderie is generated in the process of an Assembly Day. I also love seeing the photos of everyone’s good times at Assembly Days, especially if there are multiple generations in the room. Its clear that a feel good feeling comes from knowing that Birthing Kits really make a difference.
On a personal note, Hilary is an animal lover, and will soon be breeding Labrador pups!
